Mbeere South is in Embu County.Rapid economic growth as a result of current business Enterprise and Creativity,has made historical Background difference in Embeere South.The Adminstrative capital of Mbeere South is Embu Town.Back in 70s, people of Mbeere travelled long distances in search of water, the journey which took the whole day long.In those days, seasonal rains were illegular.Hence,water was a major problem in Mbeere:and without water, no CIVILIZATION could be possible...The region is in a sem-arid area in which cash crops such as:Coffee, Tea, Bananas, Yams and certain types of Soghum, Sweet and English potatoes and cassavas cannot do well... Today,many dams have been dug.Mbeere South is surrounded by Dams such as: Gataatha, Gitinangugu, Ciamvingo, Mukomwe,and many others..Apart from the Sales of Sand and many types of building stones, Mbeere South is famous for the farming, Marketing and Sales of Khat (Miraa).All types of Miraa are good resistance to draught,and are the Chief Cash crops of Mbeere as a Whole...The Khat business is hectic since it deteroriates easily if it looses Market.The plant fetches much money...Dealers earn much money during the dry seasons,but in the rainy seasons,the Khat prices plammit...The Khat plant has wonderfully boosted the Economy of Mbeere.
